East Perth Redevelopment Authority - Principal Partner of New Trends of Architecture 2007.
As Perth looks towards a post-boom future, this isolated Indian Ocean city is positioned on a unique cusp between affluence, confidence, enormous growth, and the chance to consider what sort of active legacy it wants to leave.
New Trends of Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pacific 2006-2007 is an innovative exhibition and symposium that focuses on the significance of contemporary architecture in urban regeneration, placeactivation and sustainability; situating architecture in the broader debate on the future viability and vibrancy of cities like Perth.
As Principal Partner of New Trends, the East Perth Redevelopment Authority is committed to the revitalisation of inner-city Perth through urban renewal projects and design excellence in buildings, urban places and infrastructure. Its vision for 'Vital Perth' is being delivered through projects including Claisebrook Cove, East Perth Power Station, Riverside, New Northbridge, Northbridge Link and planning for the Perth Cultural Centre redevelopment.
New Trends of Architecture comes to Perth in August for the first time. It presents a series of forums that examine the relationship between architecture and other forms of citymaking, including urban planning, landscaping, policy and cultural development.
Australian and international new-generation architects will exhibit projects including housing, public architecture, planning, landscape and installation. The result is an engaging, dynamic program that redefines ways of seeing the city and positions architecture as an important contributor to a city’s liveability and future direction.
New Trends of Architecture opened in Patras, Greece in 2006 and has exhibited internationally, in countries including Luxembourg, Japan, and Australia. The tour will continue to China following Perth. The Perth component of New Trends is part of FORM’s Creative Capital program, which works to drive cultural and attitudinal change in Western Australia using creativity as the key tool - change that enables cultural policy development and investment in cultural programming, urban planning, infrastructure and sectordevelopment.
Principal Partner East Perth Redevelopment Authority is proud to continue to deliver internationally significant regeneration projects that are transforming Perth into a vibrant, world-class city and is proud to bring you this internationally significant event.
New Trends of Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pacific 2006-2007 is also supported by MIRVAC and the Department of Housing and Works.
