About the Project

EPRA’s vision for Riverside is of a bustling, vibrant place with entertainment, commercial, retail, civic and residential uses that take advantage of its unique location.

The revitalisation project will activate and enhance the riverine environment, through new residents and visitors enjoying the landscaping and waterfront rehabilitation. Residential neighbourhoods will be developed around existing infrastructure and the use of private motor vehicles reduced through the emphasis on public transport and pedestrian and cycle paths.

Riverside will include a diverse range of open spaces and parks, from the ornamental beauty of Queen’s Gardens to wetlands by the river. Public art will reflect the site’s heritage, complementing the landscape’s natural beauty.

In 1998, the East Perth Redevelopment Area was extended to include the Riverside project and EPRA was given the responsibility of revitalising the land in the project area. EPRA finalised its Master Plan for the project in 2004 and this was updated in 2008. The Minister has recently approved Scheme Amendment 23 to the East Perth Redevelopment Scheme which provides the planning framework to deliver the 2008 Master Plan vision.
