The Museum Street precinct is bounded by William, Beaufort, Newcastle and Aberdeen Streets and supports civic, cultural and educational activities, as well as mixed-use commercial/residential uses.

It offers public open space for residents, local workers and students with new parks providing an attractive sanctuary close to the centre of Northbridge. Streets are enhanced with paving and trees, in keeping with the scale and character of the precinct.

Places of recognised heritage significance feature in the area, including Tom Burke House and a number of buildings at the southern end of Beaufort Street.
