18 March 2005 - "Fixing the Mix", the first of the Sustainable Communities Professional Development Seminars

 

Fixing the Mix - Interface Management for New Urban Communities was a half day seminar held in Perth on Friday 18th of March for professionals in the urban design, development, planning and architecture sectors.

Its theme was Interface Management, a critical emerging planning and design discipline as our cities become increasingly urbanised. Nowhere is this more evident than in the large inner-urban or fringe-CBD redevelopment projects such as the East Perth Redevelopment, the Sydney Harbour Foreshore redevelopment, Melbourne's massive Docklands redevelopment and Brisbane's South Bank.

These new urban communities bring with them pressures as new residents seek to co-exist with existing commercial, retail, entertainment and (in some instances) port or light industrial businesses.

The four speakers represented a variety of views and experiences. They were:
