Sustainability
The creation of a sustainable city is about ensuring that social, economic and environmental settings are applied intelligently and in balance. Sustainability is about creating a built environment which is attractive and serves its citizens – a place that feels as good as it looks and functions.
To measure its effectiveness in creating such an environment, EPRA uses a triple bottom line scorecard that balances positive financial returns with wider economic, environmental and social responsibilities.
This focus has become central to EPRA through the incorporation of challenging sustainability outcomes.
Sustainability is applied practically through a range of “Place Making” policies and controls, aiding in the initial creation and ultimate development and management of new urban communities. Place Making also plays a critical role in activating, managing and energising the public realm once the buildings are up and the citizens have moved in.
