EPRA's Role

The East Perth Redevelopment Authority’s role continues to be creating places that people want to be a part of. By engaging with people who live and work in these communities and transforming under-utilised urban land, it seeks to achieve the best social, economic and environmental results.

Creating new inner urban communities on under-utilised land is about more than buildings and roads. As a result, the East Perth Redevelopment Authority not only consider built form in its planning, but also civic engagement, social equity, diversity creating public realms.

This shift to a more holistic approach means planning and development are only the beginning, and the Redevelopment Authority is committed to ensuring these communities work for their citizens now and in the future.

To ensure these values are integrated in the community, the East Perth Redevelopment Authority is structured into three teams.

Place Creation creates the comprehensive vision behind each project through strategic urban planning, place management, land acquisition, economic modelling, business planning and feasibility studies. This team brings together planning, architecture, environmental and economic modelling to produce the master-planned documents that form the foundation blocks of new communities.

Place Development is responsible for environmental clean up, subdivision works, roads, services, major infrastructure construction, development control, place management and land sales. The team actively consults with local authorities and government agencies to delivery new infrastructure, services, bus routes, roads, parks, civic spaces and the identification and to restore heritage buildings.

Place Management breathes life into the new community (through communications, asset management, land sales, marketing and development control) to foster the cultural, commercial, social and community aspects of urban redevelopment that make communities interesting and liveable. Once subdivision and remediation works are complete, Place Management plan and implement strategies for the marketing and sale of rejuvenated land. The team also helps new communities grow through special events, sponsorships, local business associations, networking opportunities and economic development initiatives.
